Renew a steadfast spirit within me

As we journey through this sacred season of Lent, let us come before God with humble hearts and pray as David prayed: “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10). David prayed these words after he was convicted of his sin. In repentance, he sought not just forgiveness, but renewal.

We, too, live in a world filled with sin, distractions, and hidden struggles. Often, we wear masks and live for the world’s approval instead of seeking the heart of God. This Lenten season is an invitation to lay down our old selves—the habits, attitudes, and compromises that pull us away from Him.

Let us ask God to renew our hearts and minds. May He give us a steadfast spirit—one that remains loyal and faithful in every situation. Let circumstances not push us toward sin, but draw us closer to obedience. May we surrender ourselves fully, wait upon the Lord, and allow Him to transform us. Let His grace and shine renew us in such a way that others may see Jesus through our lives.
